Gender equality in cinema and audiovisual: fiction or reality?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

 <\/p>\n

The first results of the study “The Condition of Women in the Film and Audiovisual Sectors” will be the basis for the conversation that will promote reflection on gender inequality in the sector.<\/p>\n

Themes such as precariousness, salary differences, gender discrimination, harassment and racism will be addressed in a conversation that brings together two of the founding partners and board members of MUTIM – Women Working in Moving Images, Rita Benis, screenwriter and director, and Stella Zimmmerman, executive producer.<\/p>\n

The organization:<\/strong><\/h5>\n

MUTIM is an association of women working in film and audiovisual in Portugal, founded in 2022.<\/p>\n

They intend to foster parity in the sector, contributing to an equitable and realistic representation of women in the participation, conception, development, creation, production, dissemination and promotion of cinematographic and audiovisual works.<\/p>\n

They see themselves as a tool to study, debate and boost the presence of women – in an intersectional way – in the cinema and audiovisual sector in Portugal.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Rita Benis<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Rita Benis was born in Porto. Award-winning screenwriter, she works since 2000 in scriptwriting and directing. She has collaborated, among others, with Teresa Villaverde, Margarida Gil, Jorge Cramez, Pedro Figueiredo Neto, In\u00eas Oliveira, Ant\u00f3nio Cunha Telles, Vincent Gallo and Catherine Breillat. Researcher at the Centre for Comparative Studies at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon, she is currently completing her PhD on Manoel de Oliveira’s screenwriting (with a grant from FCT). She has lectured in the field of writing and cinema: Argumento Cinematogr\u00e1fico (FLUL) and Hist\u00f3ria do Cinema (U. Moderna). She co-edited the electronic magazine Falso Movimento – Estudos sobre Escrita e Cinema. She has translated and published various texts on writing and cinema. She is on the board and a founding member of MUTIM – Associa\u00e7\u00e3o das Mulheres Trabalhadoras das Imagens em Movimento. <\/p>\n

Stella Zimmerman<\/strong><\/h5>\n

Stella Zimmerman – Master’s student in African Studies, producer, researcher of contemporary cinema in Angola. Executive producer of the feature films, Um Lugar ao Sol (2007), A Hist\u00f3ria da Eternidade (2012), Big Jato (2014), O Sil\u00eancio da noite \u00e9 que tem sido witness das meus amarguras (2015), TE SIGO (2017 – in post-production), among others and of several short films, in highlight Rhaps\u00f3dia para um homem comum (2006), O MURO (2008). She was part of the production team of Mostra Taturana de Cinema – Cidadania e Antirracismo\/Portugal. She is Production Director of the program O Canto da Casa of RTP \u00c1frica (2022). <\/p>\n
