For the first time, Porto Femme honors an institution with whom we share the same values. Creating the Sorority Award which will be awarded to Escola das Mulheres.

In this 4th edition we receive Marta Lapa and Ruy Malheiro, co-directors of Escola das Mulheres to pay their due tribute.

On this fourth edition, Porto Femme awards, for the first time the Sorority Award and the chose intitution, another first of the festival, is Women’s School – Theater Workshop.

And it all makes sense because sorority is a characteristic that is not only at the genesis of the Women’s School, but also of Porto Femme.

It is this spirit that drives both projects, and their meeting in this celebratory way demonstrates the way in which the film festival views and recognizes the contribution of the theatrical company in the affirmation of women, in general, and in the arts, in particular.

Reinforcing the visibility of the work done in and by the theater by women has been the crusade of Escola de Mulheres since its foundation in 1995, a work that the company, until 2020 directed by Fernanda Lapa, has been pursuing.
