| BÁRBARAS MEETINGS |
Following the success of the first edition, Porto Femme has decided to continue the “Bárbaras Meetings”, including it once again in the programme for this 9th edition! Committed to improving year on year, these activities will feature new themes and formats!
In this space, we create opportunities for festival-goers, industry representatives and filmmakers to come together, strengthening relationships and encouraging reflection on the journeys of films made by women and queer people!
In this edition of Porto Femme, we offer you:
This year, we are hosting a workshop session dedicated to sustainability at film festivals, led by Skadi Loist. Organised in partnership with the Goethe-Institut, we aim to encourage deeper reflection on working conditions in one of the most precarious areas of the film industry!
Participants will be invited to reflect on their individual experiences, culminating in the development of new ideas to improve working conditions at film festivals.
We are continuing with the “Barbaras Match” space, this time dedicated to dialogue with various national and international film festivals!
At the meeting “Barbaras Match with Festivals”, you will be able to talk directly with representatives from the different festivals that will be present, creating a space for networking and sharing experiences and knowledge between filmmakers and festival programmers.
We are bringing back the event “Go Barbaras! - Pitch That!”, but now in a new format! Participants will have the opportunity to take part in an online session and an in-person preparation session, and at the end, there will be a public session to present the project.
This event is once again supported by the Portugal Film Commission, through which we seek to create a meeting place for filmmakers and producers, encouraging the creation of partnerships, collaborative networks and international co-production opportunities.

In partnership with Creative Europe MEDIA, Porto Femme is hosting a session dedicated to the support provided by this European Union program to festivals and festival networks. As part of the Encontros de Bárbaras industry program, this session presents the main funding streams and seeks to clarify how the support mechanisms for the audiovisual sector work.
Creative Europe MEDIA is the European Union's program to support the film and audiovisual sectors.
