Now in its 9th edition, Porto Femme – International Film Festival is organising a pitch event for the second time, reinforcing its commitment to the development and distribution of film projects created by women and queer people. This year, the format has been expanded and now includes a SAn online training session, an in-person preparation session and, finally, a public presentation of the projects to professionals from the national and international film industry.
The event is divided into three sessions:
1. Online Session:
Online Training Session on Pitch Preparation, led by Alexia Muiños Ruiz.

2. In-Person Session:
In-person Training Session on Pitch Preparation, led by Alexia Muiños Ruiz.
Date: April 23
Time: 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Venue: Casa das Associações – FAJDP
3. Public Session + Q&A:
The Training Programme will culminate in a Public Pitch Presentation to invited International and National Production Companies.
The Public Session will consist of a 5-minute Presentation per Project, followed by a discussion with Feedback from invited Industry Professionals.
At the End, all Participants will gather for a Networking Lunch.

Alexia Muiños Ruiz | She/Her

Alexia Muiños Ruiz | Marineda Films
Alexia is a filmmaker and an expert in gender equality and communication. Despite her scientific background and a master’s degree in Chemistry, she decided to pursue a career in film and entertainment, having received a grant from the Galician Agency to study film in New York and Barcelona. Since 2006, she has held various roles in the audiovisual sector, working both creatively as a screenwriter and director, and behind the scenes as a trainer, jury member, programmer and speaker at major international film festivals. She possesses a high level of expertise in the European field of gender equality policies and remains strongly committed to this cause. In 2013, she joined the newly established European Women’s Audiovisual Network (EWA), contributing to the organisation and to the pioneering pan-European study on the reasons for the shortage of female directors in the European film industry. Since 2024, Alexia has been Executive Director of EWA Network. She has also played a significant role in feminist activism in Spanish cinema and was the founder of the Catalan association Dones Visuals. She also founded his own production company, Marineda Films, and made her debut film, Noche Transfigurada, which has received international recognition. At the same time, she works as a freelance consultant, teaching film production and writing film reviews and articles.
