Porto Femme presents the special programme LAVORES, a selection of works that make us reflect on women’s labour, that which is kept between the lines and so often remains invisible.

Curated by Amarante Abramovici and Beatriz Diniz, this cycle explores the works that do not fit within its traditional definition. It is the history of women: of their domestication and of their revolt.

From the idea of curatorship as a gesture of care and tension, the artist Luísa Sequeira presents CURAREa video art showcase that brings together works centred on editing! In this programme, we can explore the relations between the visible and the invisible, between presence and erasure, and thus affirm cinema also as a space of resistance!

For the first time, Porto Femme opens space to the literary field and adds to its programme a special session conducted by Ana Grgić! Edited together with Lizelle Bisschoff and Stefanie Van de Peer, Ana Grgić will present the book Stretching the Archives: Toward a Global Women's Film Heritage (2024), at 5:30 p.m. on April 20, at Casa Comum.

This is a work that, through shared perspectives and experiences, expands the very notion of the archive, giving visibility to neglected histories and voices in world cinema!
