WORKSHOPS
The 𝐏𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐨 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐦 – 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐝𝐞 𝐂𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐦𝐚 will hold its 4th edition from September 30th to October 5th, in the city of Porto, and in addition to a vast film program, it once again focuses on the training component with workshops in the area of cinema.

On the days 30, 31 and 32 September, from 10 am to 1 pm, the workshop 𝙁𝙄𝙓𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙈𝙀𝙈Ó𝙍𝙄𝘼𝙎: 𝙊 𝘿𝙊𝘾𝙐𝙈𝙀𝙉𝙏Á𝙍𝙄𝙊 𝙀𝙉𝙌𝙐𝘼𝙉𝙏𝙊 The course is taught by the Portuguese director 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐍𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭. Taking as a starting point fixed photographic memories, from a past that is simultaneously distant and familiar, participants are challenged to discover a personal episode, constructed from fragments of rescued memories. The proposal is to explore the documentary as a process of self-discovery and self-writing, developing an autobiographical essay between images and between sounds.
𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫í𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐍𝐨𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐢𝐫𝐚 (Porto, 1980) is a director, university professor and researcher. He produces and directs documentaries and regularly works with other directors, whether in fiction or documentary. During 2015 he was in residence at the National Film Board of Canada and in 2016 he was a visiting scholar in the Film Department at the University of Texas at Austin. His documentaries have been selected for festivals both in Portugal and abroad.
She holds a PhD in Digital Media from the international program at the University of Texas, Austin – Portugal, specializing in Audiovisual Creation and Interactive Media, and a master's degree in Photography and Documentary Cinema from ESMAE – Escola Superior de Música e Artes Cênicas do Porto.
Since 2013, he has taught several courses related to cinema and especially documentary at the University of Coimbra, the University of Maia – ISMAI and ESMAD (Polytechnic of Porto). As a member of Ao Norte, he works on organizing the MDOC – Melgaço International Documentary Festival and the Viana Cinema Meetings. Since 2016, he has been vice-president of the European group Cinema and Contemporary Visual Arts, at NECS – European Network for Cinema and Media Studies, where he organizes conferences, exhibitions and a cinema program. She is an integrated researcher at ICNOVA – iNOVA Media Lab.

On the 10th and 11th of September, from 10am to 1pm and from 2pm to 5pm, the workshop 𝑶𝑭𝑰𝑪𝑰𝑵𝑨 𝑫𝑬 𝑨𝑵𝑰𝑴𝑨ÇÃ𝑶 𝑺𝑻𝑶𝑷-𝑴𝑶𝑻𝑰𝑶𝑵 is taught by the Portuguese director 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫í𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬. The practice of animation cinema stimulates creativity through different experiences, putting participants in contact with a time-consuming process on a technical level, but with a tiny number of possibilities in terms of artistic expression.
This workshop aims to practically introduce the fundamentals of animation production using the stop-motion technique (volumes). It will be a practical workshop, where participants are invited to create a female character based on psychological characteristics and an audio excerpt. Based on a sketch, we will build a puppet for animation and then animate it using the smartphone.
𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐫í𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐑𝐨𝐝𝐫𝐢𝐠𝐮𝐞𝐬 has a degree in Communication Design and Audiovisual Production (2010) from ESART-IPCB, and a master's degree in Illustration and Animation (2016), from ESD-IPCA. Since 2014 she has been working in stop-motion animation, as an animator, director, creator of sets/props and puppets. Collaborating with RTP, Nukufilm, Bando à Parte and Filmes da Praça. He co-directed with Joana Nogueira the short film ‘Pronto, era assim’ (2015), which won awards at several film festivals. And the ep. 7: Platypus, from the TV series ‘Crias’ (2020), shown on RTP and ARTE. He is currently part of the team at Animais AVPL, in Porto, where he collaborates on projects in production: ‘Roupa Velha’ by Alice Guimarães, and ‘Casaco Rosa’ by Mónica Santos. He will soon begin co-directing the short film ‘Três Vírgula Quatorze’. At the same time, it is dedicated to training children, young people and adults in the field of animation cinema.
