Porto Femme - International Film Festival returns to Porto from 20 to 26 April. This year, our focus is on the theme of Work. At a festival dedicated to films by women and non-binary people, to talk about work is to talk about all those who are seen, but also all those who are silenced, and who are erased from history and memory.
With the festival taking place in April, it is impossible not to reflect on the revolution. Even after this milestone, many achievements took decades to materialise, and so many others remain to be achieved. And our theme serves not only to discuss the different forms of work, but also the stereotypes and inequalities that are present within it.
As we reach our 9th edition, we want not only to address these issues through our programme, but also to create spaces where we can reflect on the festival’s working conditions. At a time of challenges for the cultural sector, we invite everyone to reflect collectively on fairer, more sustainable, and more mindful ways of working, both within and outside the film industry.
