Synopsis: 

An unexpected email reveals to Paula, a young filmmaker, the existence of a Chilean director named Alicia Armstrong, who surprisingly bears her last name. She discovers that Alicia was the third female film director in Chile, making a single film in 1926, now lost. Paula will try to recover everything about Alicia and her movie, realizing that something deeper than a simple movie is hidden behind it.


Biography:

With a degree in Audiovisual Communication from Duoc Uc, she stands out in the fields of directing, scriptwriting and editing, participating in the short films ''Land of Nobody'', ''The Way of the Dogs'' and ''Enrique's shadow''. She currently works as an editor and director at Imago Producciones, an audiovisual production company dedicated to scientific divulgation. She has edited television series, both children's and non-children's, and a feature film awarded at international festivals called Atacamex 8081: Exploring the unknown. In addition, she belongs to the Nosotras Audiovisuales group.

How does each woman protect herself from the pain of the past? How do they reflect on the idea of time and the present silencing? Going through a space that allows encounters, reflections and new forms of production of subjectivities of women connected with themselves, the short film approaches individual stories to reflect on a space that allows the expansion of affections and desires that do not let them succumb to dehumanization.


Biography:

Born in Pirassununga/SP, Samantha Joanne is a film major at the Federal University of Santa Catarina. She researches Cinema within the prison context, proposing several interlocutions such as the film club project, entitled CineDelas. Since 2019, he has been active in Female Prison of Florianópolis, in partnership with a research group, entitled Theater and Prison - Infiltrations of the performing arts in spaces of deprivation of liberty.

Biographies:

Bénédicte Alloing directed several documentaries, including “Digue du break”, “Encore debout” and “Eperlecques”. In parallel, she also creates videos for theaters and music venues under the Collectif Digital Vandal.

Medusa’s Gaze was Ellénore Lemattre’s first film. She is also an actress, a burlesque performer and a photographer. Among other things, she wrote twice about live modelling: in "Sang Froid" in 2010, and an essay titled “Sur la sellette” in the journal Amer in 2018.

Biography:

Andrea Arauz is a Central American filmmaker. Resident in Honduras. Master in Documentary Film at the Barcelona Film School (ECIB). Executive Producer of Aurora Studio in Honduras. In 2021 she was the first Honduran documentary filmmaker to win the Logan Nonfiction Program grant in the US for her first long feature documentary as director “The Stillness of a Revolution”. She has worked as a director, producer, digital strategist, video editor and 2D animator for international and national NGOs in Honduras, always focusing on human rights.

One day, Julie heard voices threatening her. Biography:

At the end of the 1990's, Mia Ma watched Jean-Pierre Thorn's film Faire kiffer les anges on her television set, driven by her love of hip hop dance. She discovered with enthusiasm a kind of documentary she had never seen before, which transforms intimacy into politics, and reality into cinema. She directed Riz cantonais in 2015, a medium-length film that tells the story of the complexity of miscegenation from an intimate point of view. In 2021, she directed Fréquence Julie, which explores the issues of madness and courage from the perspective of friendship. Today, Mia Ma works in parallel as a technician in the world of dubbing.

Biography:

Amparo Climent is a Valencian actress and multidisciplinary artist. She has written and directed some short films (Memories in the garden, ADN) and we remark her work in the documentary field with Tears of Africa and Idomeni’s Dreams, about the refugees crisis in Europe. Her short doc,  Porters: slaves of the South, about labour rights of women at the Spanish- Moroccan border has travelled in more than 30 festivals and won several prizes.

Based on the reports of lesbians who frequented Ferro’s Bar, in the late 1970s and early 1980s, we discover a little bit of the life of lesbians during the military dictatorship in downtown São Paulo. We are led to an important episode in the formation process of the Brazilian lesbian movement, the “Levante do Ferro’s Bar”, also known as the “Brazilian Stonewall”.

Aline A. Assis - Studying Audiovisual at the University of São Paulo, she was part of the collective Cine Sapatão between 2020 and 2022.

Fernanda Elias - Co Organizes Cine Sapatão since its foundation in 2017, having worked with production, curatorship, translation and subtitling.

Nayla Guerra - Works with cultural production at Cinemateca Brasileira. She has a degree in Audiovisual from the University of São Paulo. She is a member of Cine Sapatão since 2019.

Rita Quadros - Coorganizes Cine Sapatão since its foundation in 2017. She has a long history of LGBT militancy in São Paulo and experience with film clubs.

Cristina Rodríguez Cerro and Rocío Fernández Nicolás are two Spanish filmmakers, who use audiovisual language as an activist tool to support the feminist movement. Twelve years after meeting at university in Spain, the two directors of this short film “Sin Miedo”, metin the city of Graz, Austria, where they currently live. They immediately resumed the path of feminist activism, coming together to produce videos on social and artistic topics, supporting women entrepreneurs.

Batoul Karbijha is a Syrian journalist and filmmaker who lives in Amsterdam. She moved to the Netherlands in 2014, and has since then worked as creative producer for short-form documentaries, particularly in conflicted and war-torn countries. She has an intimate approach, focusing on human rights, immigrants and refugees. One of her short-form film series “The 11 Years Old Rebel” has been nominated for Short Form Doc Award at the One World Media Awards.

Biography:

Of Spanish and Italian origin, Chloé Lecci Lopez was born and raised in Paris. After studying cinema and specializing in documentary film, she conducted research in arts and languages and was interested in the relationship between cinematographic and ethno-musicological approaches.
