Synopsis

A personal and intimate vision of a window that merges with the memory of a grandmother.

 

Biography

Patrícia Sobreiro was born in Lisbon, in 1975. She graduated in Fine Arts from ESAD, Caldas da Rainha. She is a Visual Artist and works in Art and Education at the Municipal Gallery of Torres Vedras. She attended the course “A Fotografia como narrativa fílmica” at Universidade Nova de Lisboa. A Janela is her first short film.

Synopsis

A misty mountain range. A few mistrustful looks and a disquiet of an absolute silence. Holy chants echoing from the church while a man endures alone between the walls of his dark house. He wanders through the splendid nature, bewailing on his condition as a man doomed to serve the surroundings he has rejected.

Rita’s life has taken a different direction from that of her older siblings and the children her mother accompanies in primary school. Rita learns outside the rules of teaching and what is often socially accepted. She learns day by day in a community of domestic education, where she studies in an unconventional way

 

Biography

Ana Luísa Oliveira (Portugal, 1982). A journalist for almost a decade, she has collaborated in various media, from radio to television to the written press. She is currently responsible for the educational project “Escola.Cinema. Ação” and works as a freelancer in different areas.

Sara Santos (1992), director. She has a degree in Documentary Cinema and a Masters in Audiovisual Communication. Her film Saba (2014) was awarded at the Lisbon & Estoril Film Festival and Encontros de Cinema de Viana.

Synopsis

In Rio de Janeiro, the inhabitants of the Mangueira neighborhood follow a television screen where the jury awards the votes to each samba school. In 2019, Mangueira brought a strong, courageous samba to the sambadrome, resisting what is happening in Brazil at the moment. The film testifies to the tension in waiting for the final result and the enormous joy of all generations in the victory of Mangueira, champion of Carnival 2019.

Biography

Maria Mire. Artist and director, she has worked collaboratively in several artistic collectives. The work she has been developing is mainly focused on the issues of perception of the moving image. She is currently a teacher and co-director of the Cinema / Moving Image Department of Ar.Co, in Lisbon. She concluded a PhD in Art and Design, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto, in 2016, with the following “Phantasmagorias: the moving image in the field of fine arts”.

Tânia Prates currently works as a Superior Technician at the Municipality of Coruche, developing works in the areas of audiovisual and multimedia inserted in the Press, Public Relations and Image Office. She develops documentary audiovisual works on an individual and independent basis, having already made the feature Firefighters of my Land.

Leonor Noivo works as script- supervisor and assistant director in fiction films and documentaries, with several directors such as João Pedro Rodrigues, João Botelho,among many others. She’s co-founder of the Cinema production company Terratreme Filmes, a filmmakers platform created in 2008, where she develops her own films and collaborates with several directors in different stages of project.

Biography

Maureen Fazendeiro. In 2012, she joined Independencia (now, Norte), where she was developing the distribution of films and accompanying the publishing of books on cinema. In 2014, she concluded her first film, Motu Maeva, screened at FID Marseille and various international film festivals, museums and cinematheques, and for which she received various awards. She has been preparing her first feature-length film, As Estações.
