The submissions for the sixth edition of Porto Femme – International Film Festival are open!

The Porto Femme team starts preparing the 2023 edition and launches the open call for film submissions. The Festival is composed by 5 competitions: International, National, Student, XX Element and Thematic Competitions. The third edition of the Thematic Competition, it will be explored the theme of ‘Reflexions’. The festival competitions are open to women and non-binary filmmakers, in addition to the XX Element Competition being open to everyone.

Submissions can be made on the Filmfreeway, Festhome, Click for Festivals, WFCN and Movibeta platforms. The regular deadline is December 26th, 2022, and the extended deadline is January 15th, 2023. The regulation can be found here.


Based in Porto, this international film festival aims to be a space for the dissemination of women filmmakers, becoming a space for sharing different stories and perspectives, and supporting their presence in the film industry.

In the already mentioned competitions of the festival, prizes are given to features and short films, documentaries, animations and experimental films. A film can be also awarded to the Women’s Fights and Rights Award.

In addition to workshops, exhibitions and debates, the festival is also intended to be a space to pay tribute to women filmmakers who have marked, and continue to mark, Portuguese cinema, having already paid tribute to Monique Rutler, Margarida Cordeiro, Isabel Ruth, Fernanda Lapa, Cucha Carvalheiro, Margarida Gil, Manuela Serra e Teresa Madruga.

Porto Femme is a festival that aims to reflect the diversity of genres, themes and languages, with a varied program, always with the representativeness and the empowerment of women on the big screen!
