Synopsis:
In a house, creation and art are preserved. creation and art are preserved. One day the books get sick and the dualities light/shadow, openness/closure are confronted. Finally, the voice and the reading save the stories, allowing the inventive spirit that connects us to pass through.
Biography:
(Lisbon, 1969), has a master's degree in Sculpture from the University of Fine Arts of Lisbon. She directed the short animation films "Mulher Sombra" (Shadow Woman) in 2012, and "Tocadora" (Player), in 2017. In 2015, she co-founded the cultural association Arte Estúdio Imaginário, to promote and produce art and culture in the Mafra area in Portugal. She is the co-creative director of the Mafra Animated Film Festival - Manifest. She teaches art and works in animation, set design and art direction.

Synopsis:
Departing from Belém, in Lisbon, three women travel to a city in the South of Portugal to meet the newest member of the family who is about to be born. During the road trip, we learn about their different characters, points-of-view and life choices. As they arrive at the destination it becomes clear that the three characters are more alike than we first thought.
Biography:
Sara Barbas was born in Lisbon in 1978. She studied Sculpture at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon (2002) and continued her studies at the University of the West of England in Bristol. In 2008 she won the Young Portuguese Filmmaker award at the 32nd edition of Cinanima and Best Iberian-American Short Film at the Short Shorts Festival in Mexico City (2009) with her first animated short film "Wherever You Go, There You'll Be". Sara has worked freelance in the UK on projects for Aardman Animations, BBC and other independent production companies as a screenwriter, director and animator.

Synopsis:
In the wee hours of the morning a form tries to fall asleep. In a struggle to maintain control, it enters cycles of abstract madness, gradually growing into a conflict of strange, visceral, visual and sonic compressions and decompressions.
Biography:
Born in 1991, she took her degree in Multimedia Art - animation branch, at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon. While still at FBAUL she began working as a freelance animator in Lisbon, later becoming part of the main team at Easylab, the animation department of the Take It Easy Films production company. In 2019 she left Lisbon with the intention of working more directly with auteur cinema in the city of Porto, where she began collaborating as an animator in the cooperative BAP animation studios. The film "Alento" is the first result of this collaboration as a director.

Synopsis:
A foreigner comes to a new city. He doesn't speak the language of the locals or look like them: instead of two, he has several arms, like an octopus. He seems to approach others and even offers them his arms. Whenever he wants, the foreigner can rip off one of his arms, and it grows back. Over time, the octopus man becomes part of the city, until the day he learns the new language.
Biography:
Born in Portugal en 1985, Catarina Sobral writes and illustrates for picture books and animation films. After studying Graphic Design, she graduated in Illustration in 2012. Her illustrations are a regular presence in editorial illustration, album covers and posters, and she has more than fifteen books published in seventeen different languages. Her work has been exhibited both in solo and group shows in many places around the world and recognized by the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, the Portuguese National Illustration Award, the Portuguese Authors’ Society, the White Ravens catalog and the 3x3 magazine.
