WORLDS CREATION – ART DIRECTION

Synopsis:

This workshop aims to deepen the knowledge of Art Direction throughout the whole process, from creation to execution. We will examine the collaborative relationship between directing, art and photography direction. Using films, screenplays, research and practical exercises, participants will deepen the contribution of this department in the construction of a cinematographic universe.

Tutor:

Mónica Santos is a multifaceted author who, in her artistic career, has won two Sophia awards, by the Portuguese Academy of Cinema, and a nomination for Césars, by the French Academy.

After finishing her master's degree at the Royal College of Art, as a Gulbenkian grantee, she worked with exponents of Portuguese cinema as well as different genres: cinema, advertising, documentary and television fiction.

With a unique artistic vision, she creates universes that reinvent reality, giving it a poetic and surreal guise that disturbs our perception. By combining art direction and textile design, Mónica Santos is an artist with unique assets.
