Radu Sticlea
Radu Sticlea is an initiator, art director and artist dedicated to building unexpected bridges and bringing a close cooperation between film, interdisciplinary art and art residencies. In 2016, he settled permanently in Porto where he founded BEAST - Festival of Eastern European Film. In 2018, he established OKNA Cultural Centre of East European Contemporary Art, currently running its ongoing programme, mainly focusing on emerging artists and experimental works from Central & Eastern Europe.

Stella Zimmerman
Master's student in African Studies, producer, researcher of contemporary cinema in Angola. Executive producer of the feature films, Um Lugar ao Sol (2007), A História da Eternidade (2012), Big Jato (2014), O Silêncio da noite é que tem sido witness das meus amarguras (2015), TE SIGO (2017 - in post-production), among others and of several short films, in highlight Rhapsódia para um homem comum (2006), O MURO (2008). She was part of the production team of Mostra Taturana de Cinema - Cidadania e Antirracismo/Portugal. She is Production Director of the program O Canto da Casa of RTP Africa (2022).

Silvia Di Marco
Silvia Di Marco is a biologist who discovered she loved art galleries and movie theaters more than the lab soon after graduation. She worked as a journalist in Milan, her birthplace, for six years before moving to Lisbon and starting a new career. She completed her doctorate in philosophy of science with a thesis on the epistemology of medical images, and has organized exhibitions and published works on images in science and art. She currently works at the Centre for Philosophy of
Science of the University of Lisbon as communication manager and does research in feminist epistemologies. She joined Olhares do Mediterrâneo - Women’s Film Festival in 2017, and is co-director of the Festival since 2020, with Sara David Lopes and Antónia Pedroso de Lima. She’s been jury for the best feature film at Some Prefer Cake – Bologna Lesbian Film Festival and part of the pre-selection team for the feature film residence Lab Med 2022 of Meditalents.

Leslie-Ann Coles
Leslie-Ann Coles is an award-winning screenwriter/ director, and actress. She is a member of the Directors Guild of Canada, ACTRA, and the Writers Guild of Canada. Coles is currently in post production with her short film, “The Curtain,” which she wrote, directed and starred in.
Her feature screenplay, “Soiled Dove” is on Coverfly’s Red List having garnered numerous accolades, and awards in international script competitions. In 2021, Telefilm Canada awarded Coles two script-development grants for “Soiled Dove,” and “Love in Vein.”
Her award winning documentary “Melody Makers,” was released (along with a companion app)in 2019 in Canada, the United States, and the UK. Coles has received several best-film awards for “Melody Makers.”
In addition to her own work she has executive-produced 46 short films directed by at-risk female youth through FeFF’s Young Filmmaker Development Workshop (YFDW). In her capacity as festival director for the past 20 years, she has overseen the rigorous evaluation and selection of independent films from more than 2,500 entries every year.
Coles is an alumnus of Women In The Director Chair, and the recipient of the Lois J. Weber Legacy Award for her dedication as a director and mentor. She’s also the winner of the 2019 Waterfront Award for Outstanding Achievement in the Media Arts.

Valeriya Golovina
Valeriya is a Ukrainian cinematographer, documentary filmmaker and educator. She holds BA from NYU Abu Dhabi and MFA from Victoria University of Wellington. Her creative interest lies in the intersection of photography, writing and documentary based projects that reveal personal narratives and complicate official stories with fixed perspectives. She has a strong interest in the international narrative power of images which has made her travel around the world collecting knowledge from different cultures in visual storytelling.
Valeriya’s work has been screened in over 30 countries from Japan to Argentina, and awarded Grand Jury Award for Best Doc in Guam, Best Short Doc in Reykjavik, Asian Cinematography Award Best Short Doc (Our Love), Best Short Doc at NFFTY in Seattle. Valeriya also manages educational partnerships with various film programs aiming to increase the number of women working in film and digital media. Her varied background of working and living between Ukraine, UAE, New Zealand and the US has shaped her unique mix of visual attitudes, perspective and approaches.

Regina Machado
Regina Machado, 1988. Lives and works in Porto. Graduated in Communication and Cultural Sciences (2012) and has a postgraduate degree in Artistic Studies / Theory and Criticism of Art from the Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Porto (2014).
She has worked in production, communication and/or cinema programming in several artistic-cultural projects.
Her passion for cinema matures completely when, in 2013, she joins the Clube Português de Cinematografia - Cineclube do Porto as a volunteer, where she is currently part of the board (since 2017).
In 2014 she starts working at Casa da Animação - Cultural Association and it is from that time on that her passion for cinema is complete: she falls in love with author animation cinema. And the impact was such that, in July 2018, she took on the direction of the Association and it is there that she develops her work together with a number of people as passionate about cinema as she is. She is dedicated to the promotion of animation cinema from the point of view of programming, artistic direction/curation and event production.

Carla Cerqueira
Carla Cerqueira, PhD in Communication Sciences from the University of Minho (2012), is an Associate Professor at Universidade
Lusófona University and integrated researcher in CICANT - Research Center in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies. Her research areas are gender, feminisms, activisms, intersectionality, media and communication. She has published in national and international journals and books, participated in conferences and research and action projects, either as a researcher or as a consultant. Currently she is part of several research projects. She is Principal Investigator of the projects FEMglocal - Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions (PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021) and Vozes em Rede: participação de mulheres em processos de desenvolvimento (COFAC/ILIND/CICANT/1/2021). She is coordinator of the Research and Policies group of GAMAG - Global Alliance on Media and Gender and is part of the board of APEM - Portuguese Association of Studies on Women. She is a member of the RTP Opinion Council representing NGOs in the Advisory Council of the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality. She is part of the implementation team for the Lusophone Teaching Group's Equality and Diversity Plan. Integrates several associations linked to human rights, gender equality and feminisms.

Ana Catarina Pereira
Ana Catarina Pereira is Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Letters of University of Beira Interior and holds a PhD in Communication Sciences, in Cinema and Multimedia subject, from the same university. She is researcher at LabCom center and the main responsible for the project “Speculum - Filming and looking at oneself in the mirror: the use of self-writing by Portuguese-speaking documentary filmmakers”. She has a degree in Communication Sciences from Universidade Nova de Lisboa and a master's degree in Human Rights from University of Salamanca. She worked for several years as a journalist and collaborator of the publications NotíciasSábado and Notícias Magazine (Diário de Notícias), newspaper I, Focus, Up, Saber Viver and Happy Woman magazines. She was co-founder and director of the online Magnética Magazine (2008/10); director of the Cultural Sciences course at UBI (2017/19); coordinator of the Film Studies’ Sopcom seminar (2017/22) and a delegate at the UBI Equality Commission (2019/22).
She is the author of the books "A Mulher-Cineasta: Da arte pela arte a uma estética da diferenciação / The Female-Director: From art through art to an aesthetics of differentiation" and "Estudo do TecidoOperárioTêxtil da Cova da Beira / Study of the Textile Worker Fabric of Cova da Beira". She co-edited the books "Filmes (Ir)refletidos / (Non)reflected Films", "UBICinema 2007/2017", "GeraçãoInvisível: Osnovoscineastasportugueses / Invisible Generation: The new Portuguese filmmakers", and "Colectânea de Poesia - Poetas do Fundão / Poetry Selection Fundão poets", authoring several scientific papers published in national and international journals. She has already presented conferences, workshops and master classes in Brazil, Spain, England and Sweden, among other countries. She is the curator and jury of several film festivals, also integrating the judge panels of Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia / Foundation for Science and Technology. Her research interests focus on feminist studies, film studies, pedagogy in the arts and Portuguese Cinemas.

Maria José Magalhães
Assistant Professor at FPCEUP, researcher at CIEG and at CIIE, PhD in educational sciences. She received the Carolina Michaelis de Vasconcelos research prize on Women's Studies (1990), and has several scientific publications (books and articles in national and international journals). The main areas of research focus on gender studies, feminism, social movements and gender violence (including femicide). She led the international project “Bystanders: developing bystanders responses to sexual harassment among young people” (prevention of sexual harassment. Principal Investigator of the CEINAV International Project (2013-2016), member of the European Observatory of Femicide (2018-) and founder and scientific coordinator of the UMAR Murdered Women's Observatory, OMA-UMAR (2004-2010) Currently, coordinates the BO(U)NDS Project – Ties and Limits: longitudinal study on the prevention of gender violence in schools (funded by the FCT) and coordinates the ART'THEMIS+UMAR Project, with funding from the Secretary of State for Citizenship and Equality of gender. She also coordinates the international project FEM_United: Preventing femicide in Europe. She has also developed, together with other researchers, research in the field of feminist art criticism, including projects and published articles.
NATIONAL COMPETITION

Manuela Monteiro Matos
Manuela Matos Monteiro has a degree in Philosophy from the University of Porto. She was a high school teacher and is the author of several books (Porto Editora) in the areas of Psychology, Psychosociology and Pedagogy. She recognizes herself as a social activist, recognizing feminism as a cause present throughout her life. In the late 70's she co-founded GAMP - Autonomous Women's Group of Porto - a group that played an important role in the fight for the legalization of abortion and access to contraception.
She manages since 2013, with João Lafuente, the galleries Espaço MIRA and MIRA FORUM and since April 2017 the gallery MIRA | performing arts in Porto. As a photographer she has exhibited in Portugal, Mozambique (Maputo and Beira), France (Paris and Bordeaux), Brussels (European Parliament), Florence, in two photography biennials in Rome, Miami, Kansas City, Barcelona among others. He has curated several exhibitions. She is, with João Lafuente, from 2019 curator and organizer of the Photography Cycle of Lamego and Varosa Valley.

Mariana Bártolo
Mariana Bártolo (Porto, 1987) lives between Germany and Portugal. She is a filmmaker, performer and multimedia artist. She finished her studies at KHM - Academy of Media Arts Cologne in 2020 and graduated at Escola Superior de Dança in Lisbon in 2008. Her most recent films "Mansa" (2021) and “Whale Beards” (2021) were shown in several international festivals, such as the Palm Springs Shortfest, International Short Film Festival Oberhausen, IndieLisboa, European Media Art Festival Osnabrück and Filmfestival Max Opüls Preis. She previously directed the short films, "Interior" (2017) and “The Factory“ (2012), shown at Panorama - Portuguese Documentary Exhibition and in the permanent exhibition of the Interpretive Center of Santo Thyrso Factory. She has been involved in various productions mainly associated with d documentary and performance and develops parallel projects in the areas of photography, installation and drawing. She is currently working on her new hybrid documentary “At the table” and collaborating in the development of the series "Em banho maria" and the intermedia project “The loss of the night”. She was recently selected by Cannes Directors Fortnight’s program “Directors Factory, North Portugal” to co-direct a short film with Guillermo García López.

Meirinho Mendes
Meirinho Mendes, born in Luanda, graduated in theater and cinema and cultural production, works as an actor, director of actors, producer, and runs the company Kafukolo5, currently developing his activity between Africa, Europe, and South America.

Pedro Oliveira
At 42, Pedro Oliveira has been an enthusiast of cinema from a very young age, a taste he inherited from his grandfather, a projectionist in a traditional cinema. After attending the Social Communication course, he started working at Porto Canal. There he created the program Cinema Batalha in 2009, a weekly cinema magazine that he presents until today. In the television area, he also works as a program editor and in sports broadcasts.

Karla Ruas
Karla Ruas is a Brazilian artist and illustrator based in Porto, graduated in Visual Arts, specialized in History of Art, Illustration and Digital Animation and is a Master's student at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Porto FBAUP.
She has always felt attracted to the universe of static and animated images and throughout her professional life has worked in the areas of painting, illustration, editorial design and has ventured into stopmotion animation. She has works exhibited and produced in Brazil, Portugal, New Zealand, and Australia.
The focus of the productions are from personal narratives linked to the female imaginary, seeking to create an affective symbolic memory through the relationship with internal and external nature and the affectation of the bodies.
Anabela Oliveira
Assistant Professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro and researcher at Labcom-Communication and Arts. D. in Comparative Literature, she directs her scientific research in the field of inter-art studies, namely in the relations between literature and cinema, literature and architecture, and also in the cinematography of Manoel de Oliveira, Federico Fellini and Jacques Tati. She teaches several seminars in the field of film discourse analysis and dialogical relations between cinema and other arts. She has presented papers in multiple colloquiums and publications in national and international journals, has done lectures at the universities of Paris III, Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, Utrecht, Warsaw, Lublin and Gdansk. Anabela has participated in juries and workshops in film school festivals and screenings (Avanca, MIFEC, Festival de Cinema de Ourense, Festfilm-Montpellier, Cinanima, São Tomé Fest Film. Arroios Film Festival, Porto Femme International Film Festival, Cine Eco) and in ICA national juries (2014-2023). She is the author of the books Entre Vozes e Imagens - a presença das imagens cinematográficas nas múltiplas vozes do romance português (anos 70-90), Porto, Edições Pena Perfeita, 2007 and Federico Fellini - a inevitabilidade da arte, Editora DebatEvolution, 2020.

Porto Femme, since its first edition, works together with universities. This year the jury of the Thematic Competition is composed by students of the Philosophy of Cinema Class of the first year of the Masters in Cinema of the University of Beira Interior, taught by Prof. Dr. Ana Catarina Pereira.
