Alexandra Ramires
Alexandra Ramires has been working in animation since 2009.
In 2013 she arrived in Porto to work in the animation studios of the production company Bando Á Parte, which today has become a cooperative - BAP Animation Studio - of which she is a founding member.
In her professional career she has worked on several international award-winning films. Água Mole (2017) is her first animation film co-directed with Laura Gonçalves.
She is the director of the film ELO (2020) and co-director, together with Laura Gonçalves, of the films ÁGUA MOLE (2017) and PERCEBES (2024).

Fernando Vasquez
Born in Porto, Fernando Vasquez is a cinema graduate from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College, with a post-graduate course in journalism from the London School of Journalism. He transitioned from film production to journalism and film criticism for notable publications in the UK, Portugal, and Brazil. Since 2010, he has been the Director of Film Programming at FEST - Novos Realizadores | Novo Cinema. In 2023, he also became Co-Director of the Festival and FEST - Cineclube de Espinho. Additionally, he held various roles at Nisi Masa - European Youth Cinema Network from 2012 to 2016, conducting film criticism workshops at renowned festivals worldwide. Vasquez collaborates with production companies and independent directors on international film distribution strategies. His writing appears in online publications like c7nema.net, and he serves on juries for film competitions and pitching sessions.

Janaína Oliveira
Janaína Oliveira is a film researcher and curator. She is a professor at the Federal Institute of Rio de Janeiro (IFRJ) and a consultant for JustFilms - Ford Foundation.
She has a PhD in History and was a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at the Howard University Centre in the USA. Since 2009, she has been developing research and curating films, as well as working as a consultant, jury member and lecturer at various film festivals and institutions in Brazil and abroad.
Currently, in addition to participating in other curatorial initiatives, she is a member of the Selection Committee of the BlackStar Film Festival, the advisory board of Doc's Kingdom, the curatorial board of the Criterion Channel and a postdoctoral fellow at the NYU Film Department.

Maria Luna-Rassa
Maria Luna-Rassa is Academic Coordinator and associated programmer at Muestra Internacional Documental de Bogotá, in Colombia.
She is member of the board of directors of ALADOS Colombia (Colombian guild of documentary filmmakers) and one of the coordinators of the HoMER network (History of moviegoing, exhibition and reception). Co-editor of the book: Territorio y memoria sin fronteras, nuevas estrategias para pensar lo real (2021) and author of several book chapters on indigenous, transnational and documentary cinema.
In Barcelona she teaches creative documentary and contemporary television at TecnoCampus, Universitat Pompeu Fabra since 2016.

Tsanko Vasilev
Tsanko Vasilev is a Bulgarian film director and producer, based in Sofia.
Graduated in Cinema and TV Directing, Cultural Management and Audio-visual Communication, and Economics of the Public Sector
Festival Founder and Director of IN THE PALACE International Short Film Festival – Oscar® and Goya Awards® qualifying festival.
He's the owner of the Sofia based film production and distribution company Trikitri and chairman of the Culture Pernik Foundation.

Raquel Freire
Raquel Freire is a director, screenwriter, writer, producer and mother. Some of her films have premiered at International Film Festivals such as Venice, Turin, São Paulo, Montreal, Leeds, Clermont-Ferrand, Porto PosDoc, among others, in cinemas and on television in Portugal and France.
She premiered the animated film "Mulheres do Meu País" at MAAT, which she co-directed with Tainá Maneschy in 2020. She wrote, directed and produced the trilogy of documentaries "Stories of the Women of My Country", which premiered on RTP1 in 2021. Co-directed with La Ribot the short film "Differentness" with Dançando com a Diferença in 2024.
She is an Advisory Board Member: "Portugal Invisíveis Insubmissas: Leading Women in Portuguese and Spanish Cinema and Television", University of Exeter, University of Oxford, University of Kent. She is completing her third feature film "Film Without a Camera". She is directing the film and series "Women of April" for 2025.
National Competition

Catarina Alves Costa
Catarina Alves Costa is a film director and anthropologist. She directed, among other films, Margot (2022).
(2022). She has a degree in Social Anthropology, a Master's degree from the Granada Centre for Visual
Anthropology at the University of Manchester and her PhD at the Universidade Nova
University of Lisbon with her thesis Camponeses do Cinema. Representations of Popular Culture in
Portuguese Cinema. She is an Assistant Professor at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in the
Department of Anthropology.

Severiano Casalderrey
Lecturer, essayist, critic and film curator. In the literary field, he is the author of four publications on cinema and short films.
He won the essay on international cinema category of the VI María Luz Morales Awards (2022). He is a regular contributor to the magazine Tempos Novos, writing articles about film festivals. He is a member of the Academia de Cine de España (responsible for the Goya Awards) and the Academia Galega do Audiovisual (organiser of the Maestro Mateo Awards). His experience as a film curator spans more than fifteen years. He
He was director of the ANIRMAU animation festival (2010-13), as well as being part of the FICBUEU programming team (2012-23), being its deputy director in recent years between 2019 and 2023. He is currently working on the animation festival IMAXINARIA (A Coruña) and other projects with the Vigo-based production company Abella Producións, including the GFFF (Vigo) and Cinema Miúdo (Ames). He has also participated as a jury member in more than 15 international festivals.

Vanessa Rodrigues
Director, screenwriter, author of books and university lecturer in Porto, Coimbra and Macau.
Graduated in Documentary Film Directing and Screenwriting from the International Film Academy (São Paulo), EICTV- Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV (Cuba). PhD in Communication Studies for Development (Lusófona University).
Graduated in Documentary Film Directing and Screenwriting, ). "Baptismo de Terra" (Brazil, 90', 2017) was her first feature film as a director, screenwriter and producer, awarded at the Art&Tur Festival (PT, 2017), Avanca Film Festival (PT, 2017), European Cinematography Awards (2018), Terres Festival (ES, 2018), and the Hollywood Women's Film Festival (USA, 2019).
Atualmente, além do filme documental “O Feitiço de Areia” (Moçambique, 90’, Real Ficção/Sabina Films), tem em pós-produção o documentário “As Guardiãs de sementes” sobre ação climática, no arquipélago dos Bijagós (Guiné-Bissau). É investigadora integrada do CICANT, nos projetos de investigação YouNDigital e FEMGlocal, no qual é coordenadora dos podcasts e realizadora do documentário sobre feminismos e movimentos sociais em Portugal.

Anabela Oliveira
Assistant professor at the University of Trás-os-Montes and Alto Douro and researcher at Labcom-Communication and Arts. With a PhD in Comparative Literature, she conducts her scientific research in the field of inter-arts studies, namely in the relationship between literature and cinema, literature and architecture and also in the cinematography of Manoel de Oliveira, Federico Fellini and Jacques Tati. He teaches several seminars on film discourse analysis and the dialogical relationship between cinema and other arts. He has presented papers at numerous conferences and published in national and international journals. Invited lectures at the universities of Paris III, Paris Ouest Nanterre La Défense, Utrecht, Warsaw, Lublin and Gdansk. Participation in juries and workshops at film festivals and film school exhibitions (Avanca, MIFEC, Ourense Film Festival, Festfilm-Montpellier, Cinanima, São Tomé Fest Film. Arroios Film Festival, Porto Femme International Film Festival, Cine Eco) and on ICA national juries (2014-2024). Author of the books Entre Vozes e Imagens - a presença das imagens cinematográficas nas múltiplas vozes do romance português (anos 70-90), Porto, Edições Pena Perfeita, 2007 and Federico Fellini - a inevitabilidade da arte, Editora DebatEvolution, 2020.

Ana Cristina Pereira (AKA Kitty Furtado)
Ana Cristina Pereira (AKA Kitty Furtado) is a cultural critic dedicated to breaking down the boundaries between academia and the public sphere.
She has curated (post)colonial film exhibitions and fostered public discussions on Cultural Memory, Racism, and Reparations. She is the creator and coordinator of the project "Oficina de Reparações" (flying suitcase, Porto 2023).
Pereira holds a degree in Theater Studies from ESTC and ESMAE and a Ph.D. in Cultural Studies from the University of Minho, with a thesis titled "Otherness and identity in cinematic fiction in Portugal and Mozambique" (2019). She is a contracted researcher (FCT-CEEC) at CECS (U.Minho), working on the project "The Black Gaze: An Interdisciplinary Analysis of Afro-Lusophone Cinema as Counterpublics in Portugal."
She has co-edited special issues of scientific journals and, along with Rosa Cabecinhas, published the book "Opening the buds of time: conversations about cinema in Mozambique" (2022).

Mafalda Salgueiro
Born in Alentejo, she currently lives in Porto.
Her work emerges in the interdisciplinary space of art and social practice. With a degree in architecture, she creates video, animation, painting and drawing to record and share what she observes.
Numa abordagem tão criativa quanto etnográfica foca-se habitualmente em comunidade e identidade. Estreou Comezainas, uma curta metragem de animação documental em 2022, exibida nacional e internacionalmente, e premiada 7 vezes em diversos festivais. Tem artigos etnográficos publicados e trabalho editorial para clientes como The New York Times e Observador Lifestyle.
Recently she has collaborated with the theatre company Teatroensaio to create video, animation and live drawing.

Ana Catarina Pereira
Ana Catarina Pereira is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Arts and Letters at the University of Beira Interior, holding a Ph.D. in Communication Sciences with a focus on Cinema and Multimedia from the same university. She is the director of the Master's program in Cinema and a researcher at the LabCom - Communication and Arts center. From 2021 to 2023, she served as the principal investigator for the exploratory project "Speculum: Filming and Seeing Oneself in the Mirror: The use of self-writing by Portuguese-speaking documentarians" (FCT). She graduated in Communication Sciences from the Nova University of Lisbon and holds a master's degree in Human Rights from the University of Salamanca. Having worked for several years as a journalist, Ana Catarina Pereira collaborated with publications such as Notícias Sábado and Notícias Magazine (Diário de Notícias), jornal I, and magazines Focus, Up, Saber Viver, and Happy Woman. She co-founded and directed the online magazine Magnética Magazine (2008/10), served as the director of the Cultural Sciences course at UBI (2017/19), coordinated the Film Studies Working Group at Sopcom (2017/22), and represented the FAL in the Equality Commission (2019/22).
Ana Catarina Pereira is the author of the books "The Woman-Filmmaker: From art for art's sake to an aesthetics of differentiation" and "Study of the Textile Workers in Cova da Beira." She is also a curator and jury member for film festivals, notably participating annually in the Porto Femme Film Festival.

Carla Cerqueira
Carla Cerqueira has a PhD in Communication Sciences - specialising in Communication Psychology - from the University of Minho. She is currently an associate professor at Lusófona University, director of the PhD in Communication and Activism and a researcher at CICANT - Centre for Research in Applied Communication, Culture and New Technologies. Her research interests include gender, feminisms, intersectionality, NGOs, activism, digital citizenship and media. She is part of several national and international research projects, both as a researcher and as a consultant; she is the principal investigator of the project "FEMglocal - Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions" (PTDC/COM-CSS/4049/2021). She is a member of the FilmEU+ team, WP5 called "Inclusive FilmEU". She is the coordinator of the Research and Policy Committee of GAMAG - Global Alliance on Media and Gender. She is on the list of experts at the Commission for Citizenship and Gender Equality (Cig). She is on the board of APEM - Portuguese Association for Women's Studies, is a member of ECREA's Ethics Committee and RTP's Opinion Council. She is active in civic life, particularly in human rights and feminist organisations.

Célia Taborda
Célia Taborda has a PhD in Contemporary History from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto. S
She is co-principal investigator of the research project "FEMglocal - Glocal feminist movements: interactions and contradictions".

She is the author of books, book chapters and several articles in national and international journals, has participated in various conferences and has also been a member of scientific committees and event organizations.
Thematic Competition
Since its first edition, Porto Femme has worked closely with universities. This year, the jury for the Thematic Competition is made up of students from the Philosophy of Cinema class of the first year of the Master's Degree in Cinema at the University of Beira Interior, taught by Prof. Dr. Ana Catarina Pereira.
- Luísa Villas-Boas is a Master's student in Cinema at the University of Beira Interior. She graduated in Film BA Honors in the UK, has two years' experience as a freelance director, and production assistant on films for Prime Video & Amazon Studios.
- Luís Rodrigues has a degree in Cinema from the University of Beira Interior, where he is currently studying for a Masters in Cinema. He worked as Director of Photography and Camera Operator on the short films made during the course. He was a member of the jury for the 2023 European University Film Awards.
- Pedro Robalo, born in Aveiro in 2001. His greatest interests are undoubtedly film and music, the two art forms that for him will always be the purest and with which he can get totally involved without any worries or insecurities.
- Maria Margarida Martins holds a degree in Cinema from the University of Beira Interior, where she is currently pursuing a master's degree in the same field. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a Director of Photography and Assistant Director on course projects, and was an extra in the feature film Restos do Vento, by Tiago Guedes.
- Inês Tomé has a degree in Communication Sciences from UBI. She has always loved cinema and is now studying for a Master's Degree in Cinema at the same university. During her degree she was an announcer on the university podcast, where she still participates in the weekly 7th Art "Making Of".
