Tema Reflexos

Reflexos. Imagens refletidas. Imagens devolvidas. Efeito produzido pelo eu refletido, de um duplo operatório, fruto do inconsciente e da auto-consciência. É através do espelho (diz Lacan), ou do seu reflexo, que nos identificamos e criamos uma identidade. E, durante séculos, a imagem feminina refletida no espelho centrou-se em ideais heteronormativos, enquanto objecto de desejo e do olhar alheio. A autodeterminação das mulheres, entretanto conquistada, desdobra-se num caleidoscópio de múltiplos reflexos, imagens e identidades.

Nesta exposição pretendemos dar espaço aos reflexos criados por mulheres que reivindicam as suas imagens, que enfrentam e moldam as suas duplas refletidas frente a um espelho que seguram sem hesitação, e exibir os reflexos que procuram, que produzem, que alcançam, enquanto resultado de uma imagem firme e inabalável.

Procuramos um encontro com as visões de artistas visuais sobre o tema: ouviremos os gritos, sussurros e expressões que nos apontem a uma crise.

The artist has the freedom to choose the content, form, or embodiment she wishes to give to the work. After the curation process, it will be possible to see, through different interpretations, how each woman understands and deals with the reflection…

Open Call

For its 6th edition, the PORTO FEMME – International Film Festival, extends a special invitation to cis and trans women artists and non-binary people from Portugal and around the world: to present works in the field of visual arts that fit the theme of Reflections. The idea is to create a body of diverse works, organized and in dialogue with each other, linked by theme and sharing a common origin: creations by cis and trans women artists and non-binary people. These works can include photography, video art, painting, and more.

The open call is open until March 15, 2023. The regulations can be found AQUI  and works should be sent to exposicao.portofemme@gmail.com.

Porto Femme and XX Element – Associação Cultural originally promoted female artists by selecting visual works and organizing their public exhibitions. Previously, the following events have taken place:

Porto Femme is an international film festival dedicated to promoting female filmmakers and aims to be a space for sharing distinct stories and perspectives, supporting the presence of cis and trans women and non-binary people in the film industry and visual arts.
